The current political environment has become nothing but a constant drum beat of electioneering, with politicians so focused on the campaign trail that no actual governance can happen. This not only affects the way that politicians preform (or not preform) their jobs, but it also seems to cause the general public to become detached from the real issues as the cacophony of political theater has to drum up greater and greater noise to attract the attention of the public.
