US Army Corps of Engineers & Texas Parks and Wildlife: Ban Glass from Public Areas on Belton Lake

US Army Corps of Engineers & Texas Parks and Wildlife: Ban Glass from Public Areas on Belton Lake

The Issue

Texas lakes are beautiful... but how long can they stay that way? For example: Take a trip to Temple Lake Park's beach areas. You will find broken beer bottles, beer caps, beer cans, cigarette butts and a lot of other trash. Many people/children have gotten huge cuts and lacerations which have been caused by broken beer bottles and the bottle caps. There is no reason for this! All we have to do is BAN GLASS BOTTLES from the public parks. Beverages brought into the park need to be in a can or plastic bottle. This isn't too much to ask - and if the public was made more aware of the problem - I think they would completely understand why glass bottles are not allowed. Each time I take my children to the beach - I find glass! I feel like I am scanning the area the whole time we are there - hoping that I will find the next piece before my child's foot does. My children do wear beach shoes - though they come off sometimes, and the kids run and skip on the beach and dig in the glass filled sand. Many children and even adults do not wear water shoes. So I'm asking you to please sign this petition - Help keep Texas Parks beautiful and clean - and help protect our children!
