We have all shed tears at the horrific stories we hear about animal cruelty or animal abuse. Dog fighting by far gets to me the worst and for every tear I have shed I am going to make it count for something. I would like to petition law makers and congress to form stricter laws on those who speculate a dog fight.

Speculating is watching and attending a dog fight. Currently 25 states have speculating a dog fight only as a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor means maybe a slap on the wrist and a fine and if they do get arrested it is usually only punishable up to a year in jail. Basically speculators are the ones who fund the dog fighting business with paying admission fees and gambling they are what makes the fight take place.

If we DEMAND heavier laws on those who participate in a felony we can eliminate dog fighting!

These speculators are witnessing a felony, witnessing animal cruelty and abuse, and most of all murder to a living creature. A loving creature who is capable of fear, love, sadness, and happiness. Regardless of how you may feel about pitbulls (most commonly used in dog fights) these animals are forced to kill or they will be killed. It is such a sick tragic event that people are profiting off of non taxable money... hundred of thousands per year.

It gets worse... animals usually off of craigslist (for free) are a target for training for these dogs to get used to killing and often people will steal pets for bait to their fighters. These speculators are encouraging and funding all of this. If there was no audience the risk wouldn't be worth it to the owner.... Join me in speaking out for all of the helpless animals who are victim to dog fighting because of these speculators!!! I cannot do this alone I need your voice.....they need your voice....

Some other facts are that once a fighting ring is discovered the animals are typically deemed as unadoptable in fear that they will be aggressive. After a fight if a dog lost or was unhealable it is killed in the worst way possible. It is usually doused with water and electrocuted and thrown away in the garbage or they are hung or beaten with objects. This also occurs if the dog refuses to fight or refuses to kill the bait animals.

This petition will be delivered to the current congress and legislators in these states Alabama, Arkansas, California,Georgia, Indiana,Idaho, Iowa,Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wyoming, Wisconsin and West Virgina. Please help me make this happen.

Make speculating a dog fight a felony

To: whom it may concern,

I am signing this petition to ask that you consider enforcing harsh laws on speculators who attend dog fights. As you know there are laws in all 50 states making dog fighting a felony. Speculators are those who fund dog fights and make it worth while to hold them because of the mass amounts of money speculators spend betting and paying for entrance fees. If all states made speculating a felony there would be less fights taking places especially since most states penalty for attending is only a misdemeanor. I urge you to consider pushing for strict laws to speculators.

I believe pushing for a felony to speculate will have many benefits. One benefit being that the laws will be taken more seriously if all participants in a dog fight will be prosecuted and not just the person holding the fight. Another benefit is as I stated above less fighting will take place and less income will make it not worth it to the owner of the dog fighting rings. There are also many more benefits such as saving animals from being bait, saving animals from fighting until death, making communities safer, generating more income for the city, less illegal activities occurring and awareness of the real issue.

Dog fighting still occurs even though it is a felony because it is one person taking all the risk but also all the profit until caught. We can push to make real consequences for the ones who are keeping dog fighting alive. Please join us in making speculating a felony!
