FINAL UPDATE:
Despite our massive protests, the officials went through with the plan. All the pigs have now been executed.
Update:
1/3 of the pigs have been euthanized. The remaining 2/3 of the pigs will be killed en route to their burial today (Tuesday) - there is a small chance that we might be able to save them, but by Tuesday evening, all 400 pigs are scheduled to have been executed.

Florida state officials are planning to euthanize 400 rescued pigs who have been quarantined for pseudorabies at Pig Tails Animal Shelter. A spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture says there is concern that the the pigs may be infected by brucellosis, despite the fact that none of the animals have ever been tested positive.
Pig Tales has been a retirement home for all pigs. During the past 15 years since opening the nonprofit sanctuary, Lory Yazurlo, who runs the sanctuary, has rescued around 400 pigs from eventual abuse and slaughter. The pigs have been quarantined since 2005 for pseudorabies. Flagler County has been trying to get rid of these pigs since 2008, and has openly admitted to Yazurlo that elimination of the pigs has always been their ultimate goal. Now the state and county officials have decided to euthanize all 400 animals as a disease control measure, although the pigs have not been tested positive for brucellosis.

Please do NOT kill the remaining pigs at Pig Tales
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am contacting you regarding the plans for euthanizing the pigs held at Pig Tales Animal Sanctuary, 596 CR 90 East, Bunnell, Florida 32110. So far, 1/3 of the pigs have already been euthanized, the remaining 2/3 are intended to all be euthanized by Tuesday evening. Please do not go through with this brutal execution !
These plans have been justified by allegations that the pigs may have an infectious disease caused by bacteria that can be transmitted to people. None of the pigs on Pig Tales have ever tested positive for brucellosis. It is apparent that the County has attempted to eliminate these pigs on several occasions. Numerous accusations have been made regarding the welfare of these animals, despite the fact that they have all been abundantly fed, have always had available clean water, shelter, and have always been given special attention depending on their individual condition. There has been claims that apparent breeding with feral hogs could mean that some pigs may carry brucellosis and that the intention to euthanize them is for disease control, despite the fact that these animals have never been tested positive for brucellosis and are not posing a threat to anyone. Euthanizing the pigs was never mentioned in the court order against Yazurlo, signed by County Judge Sharon Atack on Nov. 9. There is no legitimate justification for this blatant condemnation of these animals by endorsing the recommendation to euthanize the pigs.
I strongly object to these cruel plans and ask that you immediately stop this imminent slaughter !
Sincerely,
[Your name]
