Urge the President to Reward Responsible Employers

Urge the President to Reward Responsible Employers
The Issue
President Obama is reportedly considering a policy that would give responsible employers an advantage in the federal contracting process. As things stand now, employers that cut corners on labor costs can win out by under-bidding employers that offer a living wage.
The so-called "high road" policy could ensure that the 22 million or so workers employed by federal contractors all earn enough for a decent standard of living and have the bottom-line security of health care, retirement and sick leave benefits. It would also help ensure that our taxpayer dollars don't benefit companies that violate federal employment and labor laws.
The policy has received strong support from liberal research and advocacy organizations. But some powerful business interests have lined up against it.
So we need to let the President know that we want him to move forward with a strong "high road" policy now.
