Urge Wisconsin District Attorney Not to Prosecute Sex Ed Teachers

Urge Wisconsin District Attorney Not to Prosecute Sex Ed Teachers

The Issue

Attorney Scott Harold Southworth, the District Attorney for Juneau County in Wisconsin, has sent a threatening letter to school board members and school district officials in his town, urging these individuals not to implement a state-mandated sex education curriculum. Why? Because he believes that teaching children about contraceptives like condoms is akin to sexual assault, and he's threatening to prosecute any teacher who might instruct children on how to use contraceptives.

That's right, teachers could go to jail just for doing their jobs, and helping their students learn about safe-sex practices.

District Attorney Southworth doesn't stop there, though. He's worried that the new sex ed curriculum will radically "sexualize" the student body, forcing them to learn about homosexuality and transgender issues. He considers these controversial sexual behaviors, and doesn't want teachers "endorsing" them in the classroom.

The bottom line is that District Attorney Southworth believes that teaching kids sex education is illegal activity. And as a result, he's threatening teachers with jail time, while sacrificing the health and well-being of Juneau County's student population. Send Attorney Southworth a message that he should stay out of the sex ed curriculum, and let teachers do their jobs.
