Ozone or “smog” pollution can trigger asthma attacks and harm even the healthiest lungs, but the EPA has proposed air quality standards for ozone that are weaker than what the agency’s own scientific advisors say are needed to protect public health.
Please sign the petition to tell Administrator Lisa Jackson to set air quality standards that protect the health of all Americans.
RE: Smog Pollution
Dear Ms.Johnson,
Ozone exposure can harm even the healthiest lungs, causing serious health problems, including asthma attacks and even premature death. Your proposal to revise the national air quality standard for ozone falls short of what your own scientific advisers have said is needed to protect public health.
When you finalize the standards next year, I urge you reject industries pleas to weaken the proposed ozone standard or maintain the status quo. Instead, please adopt a strong ozone standard of 0.060 ppm, consistent with the recommendations of your scientific advisers.
Yours sincerely,
[Your name]
