Urge New York City to Investigate Neglect at City Animal Shelter

Urge New York City to Investigate Neglect at City Animal Shelter
The Issue
ABC News recently reported that allegations of neglect have been made against NYC’s shelter system, New York City Animal Care and Control (NYCACC), the largest shelter in the Northeast. The video shows footage of cats sitting next to food dishes that contain food mixed with litter, dogs lying on bedding soaked with urine and feces, and animals in cages that are covered in filth. Once upon a time, I worked in a city animal shelter. I never saw anything like this.
They desperately need donations, the article says. But a new report by ABC states that over a dozen adoptable animals there are being euthanized daily, and officials are doing nothing to stop it, claiming budget cuts as the reason. At the very least, the Department of Health needs to investigate how funds are being managed there, and potentially dig into its own pockets and provide more funding for more staff to rectify these conditions immediately. Sign the petition to tell them so, because New York City’s homeless pets can’t.
