Stop the mining of COLTAN in Africa
Stop the mining of COLTAN in Africa
The Issue
It is very important to end the audacious and horrendous acts in which mines throughout Africa harvest COLTAN but meanwhile destroy habitats of severly endangered species across the countries sought after. Many species including the infamous Silver Back Gorilla need to be protected from the monsters who destroy these once thriving rainforests and reduce them to nothing more than rubble.
Besides the animals at large, the working conditions for the miners are deplorable. Without adequate food or pay they are basically enslaved into working in the mines for big companies without paying any attention to the little men who do the dirty work.
Coltan is a very rare mineral, composed of many elements, it is very hard to come by. Many alternate sources can be made to compensate for its loss, but losing hunderds of miles to the miners to follow veins and look for COLTAN is an act we cannot let happen. I will do anything to keep the world a better place, but we must all do our own contributions such as this. We need to stop the mining of COLTAN, exploiting it for its uses in electronic devices and look for alternative resources to make the world a much better place here and abroad.
