Thousands of women, who go to different countries to work as maids endure several obstacles. The concept of being a “maid” in a foreign country itself is extremely hard to grasp, for the many women who have no other choice but to consider such an option. These defenseless women, most of them extremely young, are exposed to injustice and exploitation. They are constantly mistreated and harassed to severe extents, with no hope of being able to seek help. Recently Young Ethiopian girls working as maids have been paying the ultimate price for the job they attain. A few weeks ago, a young woman who was a maid in Lebanon was beaten on camera and severally abused, while the rest of the world simply sat back and observed, as this young woman was deprived of her humanity and eventually committed suicide. Unfortunately there are hundreds of these cases, especially in the Middle East. Many of these women are not only severally beaten, but are also sexually harassed and abused. On the positive side, you can be a voice that they direly need and have been longing for. This is not a matter of a certain country or a certain group, but rather a matter of Human rights. We must not let injustice simply occur and not speak up for our fellow human beings, especially for these innocent young women. Please sign this petition, not necessarily simply sign, but share it amongst everyone you know. By taking a few minutes to sign the petition, you are being the hope for these young women who need it more than anything. This petition will help ensure, regular work periods, wage protection, remittance facilities, health insurance, employment transference, legal rights, improved working conditions, improved accommodation, inspection visits, access to relevant authorities in the country and the Sole right of these women to be treated as all humans ought to be treated.
