Have Moral Education be a mandatory course in schools! (Just like english, science, math, and history.)

The Issue

Why should children be taught Moral Education?

Moral Education is the study of the virtues of love. These virtues include:

*Caring
*Dignity
*Discipline
*Empathy
*Faith
*Forgiveness
*Happiness
*Honesty
*Independence
*Integrity
*Loyalty
*Perseverance
*Respect
*Unity

Reason #1- For Self-Identity

Every child should be aware of the invaluable worth of their humanity and know that their worth comes from the potential to love. Love is defined by actualizing the virtues of love in order to benefit humanity individually as well as collectively.

Reason #2- For Moral Obligations

Every child should be able to feel responsible to develop and apply the virtues of love for themselves and others.

Examples:

*If a child is in a situation where his friends are peer pressuring him to punch random strangers in the face for no reason, he should feel obligated to refuse to do such an act because of the virtues of Caring, Dignity, Discipline, Empathy, Independence, Integrity and Respect.

*If a child is in a situation where she believes her self-worth is only valuable through the eyes of others, she should feel obligated to refuse to have such a belief because of the virtues of Dignity, Faith, Happiness, Honesty, and Loyalty.

Reason #3 - For a Moral Compass

Every child should know how to and feel obligated to live their lives in a positive direction. They should be able to make decisions based on the virtues of love.

Examples:

*Issues that our children face such as bullying or low self-esteem can be resolved with the knowledge of the virtues of Caring, Dignity, Independence, and Forgiveness.

*Other issues that our children face such as drinking alcohol or using drugs can be resolved with the knowledge of the virtues of Faith, Respect, Integrity, and Perseverance.
