We propose that the town of Maplewood install either a stop sign or a speed bump on Boyden Ave between Parker and Elmwood. We also ask that they contact NJT and ask them to stop using the street as a bus route.

The area of Boyden Ave between Parker and Elmwood is a residential street with many young families and children recently moving in. However, it continues to be used as a main thorough fair for major, non-local traffic that consistently violates the speed limit. This is dangerous to both children and pets and also causes a significant amount of unnecessary street noise. 

Also, Nearby Milo Borden park attrackts hundreds of children a year for soccor games and family play time. It is dangerous for everyone who goes to the park to contend with speeding traffic.  

Local residents also park on the street making it difficult for most households to pull their cars out of their driveway with the heavy traffic. It can easily take upwards of 5 minutes just to wait for traffic to subside in order to leave the driveway.  Local residences shold be able to take advantage of street parking without the hazard of speeding trucks and buses.

Additionally, NJT is continuing to use this section of Boyden ave as a bus route despite the fact that, to the best of my knowledge, they we're told this was no longer permitted. 

Residents of Boyden ave pay property taxes that are in the same general range as many other neighborhoods in Maplewood that do not have to endure these conditions. We should certainly receive the same courtesies.  

In order to start any project that could help solve this problem, the township has requested that at least 75% of the residences of Boyden Aveenue sign this petition.
