Town of Hempstead Endangering Lives of Managed Feral Cat Colony

The Issue

After 12 years of living in peace, the Town of Hempstead has begun proceedings to force the managed feral cat colony at Newbridge Road Park from their home, remove their shelters and move them to an unprotected area at the far end of the park. This act will endanger the survival of these animals.

These cats have been neutered, had Rabies shots and are fed and cared for daily by town residents at their personal expense. All resident and Health Department concerns have been addressed by the caretakers, yet the town refuses to acknowledge that these concerns have already been addressed and that this act of moving the cats will endanger their well-being.

We are concerned about the safety, health and quality of life of these cats and do not want them forced from their home. As our elected town official we need you to intervene and protect these animals.
