I wish to have the laws that apply to humans harming humans to be applied to animal cruelty. If someone takes the life of their pet or someone else's in cold blood, it should be considered 1st degree murder. Then depending on nature of the animal abuse, manslughter and so forth. Why should the animal abusers get slap on wrist or little jail time, etc. This isn't fair and things need to change.

Animals have a soul and right to life. Human beings time and time again have placed little or no value on a pet's life or any other animal. I applaude the people who came up with the Animal Bill of Rights but I feel they needed to explain more on punishment for animal abuse. This is why this petition address' that. It should be the same for a human.

I hope that the law makers choose to support this cause and do more to protect the animals in our country from people who have no conscience.

Tougher Penalities for Animal Abuse

Greetings,

We, the undersigned, place an important issue before you today on penalities on animal abuse. It is our belief that the current penalities are lacking the impact that it should. We feel that animals should hold the same value as a human. And as such, the penalities should reflect that belief. Why is it if a human kills another human in cold blood, it's first degree murder. But if it is an animal, it's something different. A clear message needs to be sent.

Animals have a soul and have the same feelings that humans do. Just cause they can't vocalize it like we do, does not mean they do not have it. We are calling on the lawmakers for equal justice for animals. They deserve to have the same protections and liberties as the rest of the people in this country. Please show the animals that they are thought of, loved and cared for just like everyone else.

We know you will do right by the animals in our country. Listen to your heart and hear what it has to say. Please change the laws to reflect how much animals mean to all of us. Show the abusers tougher treatment and maybe people in our country will have a different attitude toward animals. We just want justice for all....including animals.
