Do not approve the cheapened design for the St. Lawrence Market North

The Issue

In 2008 a world-wide architectural competition was held to find a worthy design for the St. Lawrence Market North building. A terrific design was chosen, but miscommunication concering the scope of the project mean that the budget would not allow the chosen design to be built. In the following years the design has been gutted to pare costs as much as possible. While value is important, it is more important that this landmark corner of Toronto have a beautiful building that we can all be proud off. The City needs to find the money to build something that closely resembles the winning design: it should not build an ugly compromise that we will regret forever.
