The city of Topeka, Kansas is putting budget squabbles over the lives of women and children by decriminalizing misdemeanor domestic violence cases. Offenders are being set free, and no new arrests will be made. Domestic violence is one of the leading causes of death for women, and it is the leading cause of death for pregnant women. We must demand that our elected officials serve and protect, and not play chicken with our health and security.
