Fire the officer responsible for Brutus' murder
The Issue
Denise Gordon writes: I would like all my friends and family and anyone else who is a animal lover to know that today our family dog BRUTUS was shot 6 times by an officer of the tooele police department. one of his favorite things to do is have the neighbors dog (min pin) chase him around in circles. While they were playing today, the police officer in area on unrelated business saw him as threat and shot him. severely injured he got up and was dragging himself, trying to make it back home to my daughter Taya who came out to front yard. While up the officer shot him again, Brutus then collapsed at edge of driveway. Taya ran to help him but was stopped and told to go back into the house. She called me and we rushed home. When we arrived several officers and animal control were on the scene, standing around him, as we got closer and Brutus heard our voices he picked up his head and turned it towards us. He was still alive and they were all just standing there. They would not allow us to go to him
After 20 min of yelling and screaming and them telling us to calm down, was then that animal control asked if we wanted to follow her up to the vets. It was then at vets is when we were able to see how many times he was shot. In my opinion i feel the officer used poor judgement and excessive force, one in the air would have been enough. Officer claims he shot Brutus because he was coming at him, then why are the shots from the rear like he was running away? Brutus was the most sweetest and gentlest dog. My grand kids hung all over him and not once did i ever question there safety around him, neighbors cat has chased him home...I WILL NOT let his death be in vein. R.I.P. BUBBA, YOU TRULY WILL BE MISSED. Please share and show your love for a family member who died wrongfully.
