For the last 25 years the Prevention Research Centers of CDC have implemented Community Base Participatory Research to improve the health of many underserved communities around the US. However, for the following year 2012, there is no PRC line item in the President's budget and CDC only considers a generic "Academic Program" line that more likely will split in many ways even if it survive at the proposed level. Improve the health status of the US population with preventive measures will save in the long run since health care services will be less utilize. We need to let Congress and the President know that cutting the PRC program is a bad idea
