To the Texas Legislature: Acquire Alamo Plaza from the City of San Antonio

To the Texas Legislature: Acquire Alamo Plaza from the City of San Antonio
The Issue
"The General Land Office believes that Alamo Plaza is vital to accurately portraying the story of the Alamo and that these properties should be under the same authority." said to the Alamo Plaza Advisory Committee on May 28, by GLO Chief Clerk and Deputy Land Commissioner Larry Laine. The Alamo must become whole again. The Alamo is more than the state owned church, and the battlefield is much more than San Antonio's Alamo Plaza. The City of San Antonio has never treated the battlefield they call Alamo Plaza with respect to honor the patriots who died there. It's time we became defenders, took action, recognized the Alamo battlefield of 1836 with respect, and made the Alamo whole again, sacred ground. When I wrote our Governor, he told me the power to do this rests with the legislature. The State MUST do this.
