Ban the Qur'an in the UK

The Issue

Theresa Mary May, Secretary of State for the Home Department, Great Britain

On June 25, 2013, Mr. Robert Bruce Spencer was denied entry into the United Kingdom the excuse for which was as follows:

"You are reported to have stated the following:

* '. . . it [Islam] is a religion that is a belief system that mandates warfare against
unbelievers for the purpose for establishing a societal model that is absolutely
incompatible with Western society because media and general government
unwillingness to face the sources of Islamic terrorism these things remain
largely unknown.'"[sic]

"The Home Secretary considers that should you be allowed to enter the UK you would continue to espouse such views. In doing so, you would be committing hated behaviours and would therefore be behaving in a way that is not conducive to the public good.

You are therefore instructed not to travel to the UK as you will be refused admission upon arrival."

Mr. Spencer bases his views, cited by the Home Secretary's representative, in instructions written in the Qur'an which is the Islamic holy book. One of the many Qur'anic passages calling for violence to be committed against non-Muslims (unbelievers) can be found at Surah 9:29 - The Qur'an commands Muslims to fight those who do not believe in Allah. This concise and unambiguous command, taken from the Qur'an itself, validates Mr. Spencer's statement as being true, albeit politically incorrect.

Through the UK's allegation that criticism of the violent passages found in the Qur'an constitutes "hated behaviours", the basic violent document from which the criticism was formulated would constitute "Hate Speech". It appears as if, in a roundabout fashion, the UK has vicariously labeled the Qur'an as hate speech. The UK has merely taken the politically correct posture of "killing the messenger" rather than banning the message. The religious bigotry of the UK in allowing the Qur'an to be preached from within Mosques, while banning those who would be critical of its promotion of violence, is appalling. It is doubtful that any other religion would receive this dispensation.

For the reasons cited above, I now call upon Theresa Mary May, Secretary of State for the Home Department, Great Britain to fully and officially acknowledge the Qur'an as hate speech and stop the practice of "killing the messenger" and deal with the real problem instead and ban the Qur'an in the UK.
