Support SB 280 Consumer Choice and Wellness Act

Dear Wisconsin State Senators and Assembly Members:

I respectfully urge you to introduce, cosponsor, and support the Wisconsin Consumer Access To Wellness Choices bill that protects my access to traditional and unlicensed natural health services practitioners.

I want you to protect my freedom to make my own choices about my health care, including the right to choose from both licensed and unlicensed health care practitioners in Wisconsin.

My access to unlicensed health care practitioners is now threatened because of outdated laws that give exclusive rights to a few licensed professionals to engage in all aspects of the healing arts and exclude other practitioners and treatments.

The State of Wisconsin needs an exemption law that exempts natural health service practitioners from these restrictive laws. Consumers should have free access to all the healing arts.

Traditional healers and unlicensed practitioners should not require licensure. They engage in historically safe nutritional and lifestyle counseling, herbal and homeopathic therapies, and many less expensive modalities. They do not practice medical procedures that pose a high risk of harm to the public. Yet in Wisconsin no law protects my access to these far less expensive unlicensed practitioners.

MN, CA, RI, LA, ID, NM, and OK all have enacted successful Health Freedom Laws. It is now time to enact a similar Health Freedom Law in Wisconsin.
