The taking down of MegaUpload 24 hours after a web-wide protest of the "blacking" out of websites is a clearly abrasive action.

Both SOPA and PIPA have not been enacted, thus the government's reasoning for shutting down www.megaupload.com is both atrocious and beyond the measure of their power. The taking down of this highly visited website symbolizes the oppression that would come forth if SOPA and PIPA are passed.

Not all content on MegaUpload is pirated, much of it is personal and uploaded by normal everyday people. Therefore, shutting down the site has caused many different people to lose information that was stored on the megaupload servers.
