In October of 2009, UConn cornerback Jasper Howard tragically lost his life.  His death devastated his loved ones, his teammates, our University family, our entire state and all of Husky nation. The reaction and response to his senseless death revealed not only the special place Jazz has in our University community, but also the uniqueness of the University of Connecticut.  A memorial to Jasper would be a symbol not only of who Jasper Howard was, but also would symbolize the way our university family came together and united as one.  This is Jazz's legacy and that legacy should be honored with a memorial on the grounds of Rentschler located in a place accessible to everyone.  A place where family, friends, teammates and fans can touch it and be touched by it, and remember who we are at the University of Connecticut and what we should always aspire to be.
