This is important because children are being injured and killed EVERY DAY in our country due to NEGLIGENT STORAGE OF WEAPONS.
Help us protect our children.
Hello
My beautiful son, Robert Harvell Taylor III was shot and killed Dec. 29, 2010. He was at his friends house. He was 13 and his friend 14. The parents had a loaded, unlocked shotgun under their bed, in their room. The boys were left unsupervised. The friend used that weapon to shoot and kill my son. No one was held accountable in any way for this tradegy. NO ONE! My son was shot and killed under questionable circumstances, and our local sheriff's dept. closed the case the same night. No further investigation was done because there is no law in GA that required them to do so as the boy involved claims it was an accident. He claims they were passing the gun back and forth, but my son was shot at an intermediate range...so how could that be? The investigating deputy said only a partial fingerprint was found on the gun. The case is closed, no one has been held accountable for my son's death. Our grief is destroying us. It is unconscionable that we as americans do not have laws that protect our children from irresponsible people...this happens every day. Statistics show that with proper laws, holding people directly responsible if a child is injured or killed due to their negligence, greatly reduces the chances of this happening to other families. This is NOT about gun control. This is about safe storage practices of weapons when you have children 18 and younger in and out of your home, whether they be your children or other's children. I sent my son to a FRIENDS house, and I never saw him again, shot in the head, closed casket, I never saw or touched my son again.....Please don't let this be you. Help us to keep all our children safe...PLEASE SIGN!! Veronica Taylor
