Protect the rights of the protesters at Occupy Wall street
The Issue
People in Occupy Wall Street as we speak are not being allowed to leave or enter Zuccotti Park. Police are continuing to treat people unfairly and unjustly.
The 1st amenment states: The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference. See U.S. Const. amend. I. Freedom of expression consists of the rights to freedom of speech, press, assembly and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, and the implied rights of association and belief.
A news report on Yahoo says that: "SEATTLE (AP) — A downtown march and rally in support of theOccupy Wall Street movement turned briefly chaotic as police scattered a crowd of rowdy protesters — including a pregnant 19-year-old and an 84-year-old activist — with blasts of pepper spray.
Protest organizers denounced the use of force, saying that police indiscriminately sprayed the chemical irritant at peaceful protesters.
The Occupy Seattle movement released a written statement late Tuesday expressing support for "a 4-foot 10-inch, 84-year-old woman, a priest and a pregnant woman who as of this writing is still in the hospital."
