Private, non-profit and volunteer Emergency Medical Service and rescue workers (ground and air) do the same job a government/municipal EMS and rescue workers- taking care of people. But only government/municipal EMS and rescue workers get national death benefits (Public Safety Officer Benefits). All EMS and rescue workers do the same job, but private, non profit and volunteers families are not supported if their loved one dies on an emergency call or rescue.
