The names of these teams are racist caricatures and offensive to over 5.2 million Native Americans in the United States. Major League Baseball and the National Football League are Billion Dollar organizations that are profiting from symbols that reflect an ignorance and in-your-face degradation to people in the Native American community. Since team owners have shown an unwillingness to facilitate change for the better, I am calling on the other owners, players, commissioners, and unions to recognize the overt racism and exert pressure on these owners to right a wrong that has existed for far too long.
