The issue
The NSW Government transferred a piece of Crown Land on prime open space adjoining Sydney’s Trumper Park and overlooking the CBD to a private developer.
The site encompasses Paddington Bowling Club, two tennis courts and half of the roadway in Quarry Street. The developer now intends to build commercial premises on this Crown Land for private profit.
This is in a high density area with the majority of residents in Paddington, Edgecliff, Woollahra and surrounding areas living in apartments with limited open space.
Residents need public outdoor space more than ever for quality of life and well-being.
