On January 23rd of this year, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives UNANIMOUSLY passed a resolution naming 2012 the "Year of the Bible". This resolution, introduced to the floor as a "non-controversial resolution", goes much farther than legally claiming that the Bible is the word of God and recognizing the role the Bible played in the foundation of this country, but also claims that "renewing our knowledge of and faith in God through holy scripture can strengthen us as a nation and a people". While the Pennsylvania House of Representatives might be comfortable reverting the separation of church and state, I am not. We need to let them know that, regardless of religious persuasion, we are not going to let them get away with quietly violating the Constitution.

A full account of the resolution can be read here: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/PN/Public/btCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&sessYr=2011&sessInd=0&billBody=H&billTyp=R&billNbr=535&pn=2983
