This is important because women (/persons with vaginas) who are raped should not have to deal with the persons who raped them and in turn impregnate them. The act of going through court to try to keep the child away from the rapist is a major trigger and could cause major psychological damage on top of the damage that has already been caused by the rapist.
Minnesota has no such law that protects mothers of rape-conceived children and it is time for a change.
