Phase out hazardous chemicals in medical devices

Phase out hazardous chemicals in medical devices
The Issue
The Situation?
You might already be aware that some man-made chemicals are harmful for human health and the environment. But do you know that these very same chemicals are actually used in many medical devices – devices that are intended to improve the human condition?
Exposure to these hazardous chemicals increases the risk of developing cancers, neurological and behavioural disorders, and infertility. Sadly, such groups as children, pregnant and nursing women, dialysis patients and other patients with chronic diseases are even more vulnerable to these adverse effects.
Action?
Now is the time to act! The European Parliament, European Commission and Council of the EU are currently revising the legislation for medical devices and they need to know that we care about our health and that of our families.
HCWH Europe is demanding EU decision makers to put in place mechanisms to move towards a toxic-free European healthcare system. Do you agree?
What You Can Do?

HCWH Europe calls on you to demand to the Members of the European Parliament to phase out the use of hazardous chemicals in medical equipment, whenever safer alternatives are available.
Don't wait, sign our petition and help us achieve a responsible healthcare system!
Thank you!
Hazardous chemicals include substances that can induce or promote cancer, genetic mutations or damage the reproductive process (CMRs) and substances that can interfere with the hormone system of living creatures (EDCs). These substances include for example phthalates and Bisphenol-A that are abundant in PVC-based medical devices or metals used on metal-on-metal implant devices.
