Pass the Dream Act into Congress and anyone under the age of 16 can apply.
Pass the Dream Act into Congress and anyone under the age of 16 can apply.
The Issue
Many people do not know what the Dream Act is and therefore those who are advocates of education should become involved. The Dream Act is "The purpose of the Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors Act, also called the DREAM Act, is to help those individuals who meet certain requirements, have an opportunity to enlist in the military or go to college and have a path to citizenship which they otherwise would not have without this legislation. Supporters of the DREAM Act believe it is vital not only to the people who would benefit from it, but also the United States as a whole. It would give an opportunity to undocumented immigrant students who have been living in the U.S. since they were young, a chance to contribute back to the country that has given so much to them and a chance to utilize their hard earned education and talents."
There are many sections within Immigration but the most crucial aspect throughout this country is education. Children who have migrated to this country shall be given a right to learn, as does everyone else in the world.
We will focus on the Dream Act and the need for this specific act to be passed not only for the children who deserve the chance, but for our country to become more successful. This act is very important to my partner, Kimberly Cayamcela, and I because we are children of immigrant Latino parent(s). We understand how important education is and that everyone has their own story of getting to America, and why.
Overall, what it is we want to do is change the age eligibility to being anyone who is 16 years and younger to apply and it doesn't matter for how long they have been in this country. Educated students means an educated nation!
