Stop the euthanization of Pitbulls turned over to city run shelters.

Stop the euthanization of Pitbulls turned over to city run shelters.

The Issue

Pitbulls and Pit mixes are being euthanized at city run shelters due to their breed, regardless of a history of aggression. The ordinance states, any Pit surrendered to the shelter, will be euthanized if the owner does not claim them with in 3 days. By law, the shelters are not allowed to adopt them out, or send them to another shelter that could. Not all Pitbulls are agressive, and dogs are being killed simply because of their name. It's not right. All dogs deserve a chance at a good life, regardless of breed. Owner carelessness is the cause of aggression, not the breed of the dog. All dogs can be aggressive, not just pits and like breeds.
