As residents of Costa Mesa, California, we feel that our city is being over-run by unlicensed, unregulated drug rehab-parolee houses that are doing business in our residential neighborhoods.

The City of Costa Mesa has continually ignored the concerns of their residents.  Our city has done nothing to prepare for prison realignment, and in fact has diminished our police force, decimating our vice, narcotic and homicide squads, while adjacent cities have increased their law enforcement to anticipate the threat of increased crime and violence.  Prison realignment has thrown an added element of danger and increased crime into the equation.

Please sign our petition to DEMAND the City of Costa Mesa to immediately implement a moratorium on any further building permits for drug rehab-parolee home conversions.  We DEMAND that the City adopt an ordinance similar to that of Orange, California, to deal with these properties.  We DEMAND our City sign an Amicus Curiae Brief to support Newport Beach with their ongoing legal struggle at the Federal level and begin working with Newport Beach on all issues regarding these out of control, unregulated, unmonitored, non-tax paying businesses.  We DEMAND that the City of Costa Mesa put tax paying residents first.
