Reject Assembly Bill 1678: Restricting Mobile Vending.
The Issue
This Bill, if adopted would ban mobile vending within 1500 feet of a K-12 school. The Bill as written lumps all mobile vendors into the same category, while failing to take into consideration local vending ordinances and district rules that do not allow children to capriciously wander off campus. This Bill is over broad, selective in its enforcement and unable to get real results it claims to be trying to achieve.
The issue of mobile vending near schools is more appropriate for local regulation than a statewide, one-size-fits-nobody regulation that will never be repealed.
