The Issue

This is a petition thanking Jon Goldwater, co-CEO of Archie Comics, for the company's groundbreaking introduction of an openly gay character, Kevin Keller, in a September 2010 issue.

Goldwater said the following about Archie Comics' introduction of a gay character: "The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive. Archie’s hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books."

Nathan TabakPetition StarterAfter graduating from Vassar College in 2008, I worked as a researcher for Media Matters, where I monitored and fact-checked media including Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, and CNN. I've subsequently worked at the LGBT PR firm Renna Communications from September through December of 2009, where I did work on behalf of clients including DC for Marriage and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. In addition to Change.org, I have assisted with Metro DC PFLAG's communication's efforts. In June 2010, I returned to working for Renna Communications, now based out of New York. In October 2009, I spent a week in Bangor, Maine volunteering for the No on 1 campaign, and subsequently blogged about my experiences for <a href="http://thenewgay.net" rel="nofollow">thenewgay.net</a>.
