Tell Kenyan Politicians: Stop inciting Kenyans. We will never fight each other again!!

The Issue

The recent arrests of 3 Kenyan politicians on hate speech charges depicts how politicians reek of violence. Similar speeches to the ones they made were also uttered freely in 2005 all the way to 2007 and were interpreted - accurately - by the populations as a call to rise against other tribes and people with political views at variance. These propagandas were left unchecked until too late when they helped launch the post-election violence that killed 1,300 people and left Kenya's reputation for stability in tatters.

Now as Kenyans get prepared for an Aug. 4 vote on the divisive new constitution, the same inflammatory statements/speeches are creeping back. Referendum campaigns have so far gained momentum. However, on June 13, grenades went off during a church gathering at Uhuru Park, killing 6 people and sparking questions and concerns about safety of ordinary Kenyan as a result of carelessly-uttered inciting words by our leaders/politicians.

I begun school at the age of 7years and went through the similar and unfortunate experience most pupils from poor families in our community goes through. It was with my underpreviledge background that I, together with youths whom we share similar life experience, common geographical remotenes and the unanimous goal; came together as one to bring positive changes to our own lives, lives of our peers and the entire Kobel community.
