Tell Congress You Want Truth In Fur Labeling

Undercover Fur Investigation New York City, January 2009: An HSUS investigation shows that consumers are being duped by the lack of fur labels on clothing. Although New York requires labels on all jackets, most states do not. WARNING: This video contains graphic images.

Imagine if you bought a jacket with what you thought was faux fur, but it was actually fur from a raccoon dog skinned alive in China? That's a very real risk with one in seven fur-trimmed garments sold in the United States allowed to go unlabeled under a loophole in the law, even if the fur is dyed green on pink to look fake!

We need your help to pass The Truth in Fur Labeling Act of 2009 (H.R. 2480/S. 1076), which requires all garments made with animal fur to say so on label, so that consumers can make informed decisions.

TAKE ACTION
Please make brief, polite phone calls to your U.S. Representative and two U.S. Senators and urge them to support and co-sponsor H.R. 2480/S. 1076. You can reach your federal legislators by calling the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121, or click here to find their names and phone numbers.

After making your phone calls (please don't skip this important step!), fill in and submit the form at the right to automatically send a follow-up email to your federal legislators urging support for legislation on fur labeling.

Your legislators receive a lot of email. Be sure to make yours stand out by editing the subject line and message.
