Tell Apple: Stop Greenwashing!

Tell Apple: Stop Greenwashing!

The Issue

Apple computers likes to claim that they're a green company. But here's the truth: Apple has hired high-paid lobbyists to derail a proposed recycling program in Wisconsin for old TVs and computers.

Lobbying against recycling is not green!
Apple knows this, but they think we won't notice.

So 'Wisconsin Environment' is launching a petition drive to tell Apple we have noticed. It's time for Apple to put their money where their mouth is -- support our recycling effort, or get out of the way.

Being green assumes proactive steps. It doesn't mean you say one thing and do another. And it definitely doesn't mean you hire lobbyists to stop recycling programs.

This kind of stuff is maddening. At a hearing in the Capitol this week, Apple's lobbyist had the gall to say that companies such as Apple "want to have a reputation as a green company." Want and deserve are two different things.

Let's send a message -- loud and clear -- to Apple to support recycling or get out of the way:

Wisconsin needs an e-waste recycling program to keep TVs and computers out of landfills, and if we can overcome the opposition, we can make it happen. Our next step is to get the state Senate to pass the e-waste recycling bill (SB 107). That's why we need to get Apple and the other manufacturers either to support recycling legislation or back off.

Thank you!
