Why This Is Important
They're at it again. Right wing Republicans are trying to tie the hands of President Obama as he works to close Guantanamo Bay. Can you help us stop them?

Today Sen. James Inhofe will introduce an amendment to an appropriations bill that would, if passed, further stall the process to close the prison at Gitmo.

The Inhofe Amendment would disallow funding for the construction or maintenance of any facility that would house former Gitmo detainees on U.S. soil. Yet another political game meant to hinder President Obama, prevent Khalid Shaikh Mohammed's incarceration in a federal facility and keep the prison at Guantanamo Bay open.

Sen. Inhofe has pulled out the ultimate in hysterics: "President Obama has demonstrated an obsession for closing Gitmo, and this latest announcement proves he is willing to make an extreme gamble in order to fulfill that political objective. His efforts to please the far left ultra-liberal wing of his party put us at unnecessary risk."

With all this overblown rhetoric, you'd think Inhofe has long been fighting to prevent the 9/11 suspects from seeing a federal courtroom. Yet when Zacarias Moussaoui, the infamous "20th Hijacker," was tried and convicted buy the Bush/Cheney Administration, Senator Inhofe didn't utter so much as a peep. Not a word. He was too busy denying climate change.

That's what we call hypocrisy, plain and simple.

Let's face it. The Inhofe Amendment is all about obstruction, not about justice for the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks on 9/11. But we're not fooled by all of this fear mongering. We know the federal courts have already tried and convicted 195 terrorists since 2001. President Obama's decision to bring KSM to the U.S. for trial was the right one, and we need to fight back against the hypocrites who'd rather play games with our national security.

Justice is coming for those responsible for the attacks on Sept. 11th. And it's coming in New York City whether right wingers like it or not.
