We, the undersigned call on the UN Secretary-General and other member nations to set aside a day to be remembered and celebrated world over as the International Day of Empathy.

We feel that if an international day of empathy is instituted and recognized globally, we must have laid a more solid foundation for all ongoing campaigns for universal peace since the Day of Empathy will be dedicated to the teaching of how to build peace from our individual emotions.

We must cultivate “Empathy” as the only means for attaining the much sought and talked about global peace since it begins with us. Empathy and Compassion helps people to have a sense of being loved and to feel they belong to the society.

Our finances, friends, careers, life opportunities, health, etc are changing on a daily basis to become something else. This is what we have chosen to call the “Switch of Nature”. This Switch of Nature is the reason why we must avoid feeding our minds with negative things, such as anger, hatred, envy, unforgiveness, etc.

We must live our lives as light emissaries to a hurting world. We must never allow thoughts of separation that leave some people weak and others strong. We must start planting good emotions into one another. We must be empathic. The seeds of empathy we are sowing today shall bring us a harvest of protection, love, care, laughter, peace, etc.

Above all, empathy is like a healing balm in an uncertain time as this.

Therefore, all we are saying is: UN Secretary-General, give us an International Day of Empathy!
