The EPA is still only considering making a national primary drinking rule for perchlorate. They are now seeking "comments on approaches for evaluating whether there is a meaningful opportunity for human health risk reduction of perchlorate."

Well, by EPA's most conservative estimates, the number of people served by water contaminated with high levels of perchlorate ranges between 16.8 and 53.4 million people.
