Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch has come out in support of a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants and comprehensive immigration reform.
However, you'd never know it looking at the rhetoric on that network.
Anchors use the dehumanizing slur "illegals" to refer to undocumented immigrants, whom they characterize as invaders and criminals. Bill O'Reilly fear mongers about a foreign "invasion," while Glenn Beck makes up an "illegal alien crime wave."
Undocumented immigrant are further represented as a drain on the economy and social services, despite many studies that demonstrate they pay taxes and improve the economy.
Tell Rupert Murdoch to do more than just speak up for immigrant rights -- tell him to take real action to promote "fair and balanced" reporting on his network.

Stop the Anti-Immigrant Rhetoric on Fox News
Dear Mr. Murdoch,
You appeared on Fox & Friends with NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg to voice your support for immigration reform with a means of legalization for undocumented immigrants. But the rhetoric and misinformation disseminated by your own network is one of the major impediments to this becoming a reality.
Fox News anchors regularly use the dehumanizing slur "illegals" to refer to undocumented immigrants, whom they characterize as invaders and criminals. Bill O'Reilly fear mongers about a foreign "invasion," while Glenn Beck makes up an "illegal alien crime wave."
Undocumented immigrant are further represented as a drain on the economy and social services, despite many studies that demonstrate they pay taxes and improve the economy.
I don't need to tell you why these claims are inaccurate: you've already voiced your support for immigrants. And as an immigrant yourself, you know how important immigrants are to our country and our economy. But you wouldn't know it from watching Fox News.
Please insist that Fox News become truly "fair and balanced" on the issue of immigration. Put a stop to the misinformation and fear mongering on the network. You will be both promoting journalistic integrity and taking significance steps to further the reality of immigration reform.
