The Pennsylvania State Senate Judiciary Committee is getting ready to vote on whether a ban on same-sex marriage should be put before voters. That vote could come as soon as tomorrow. Pennsylvania has previously rebuffed efforts, led mostly by anti-gay lawmakers, to add an amendment to the state's constitution banning gay marriage. It's time for them to reject these efforts again.

Send the Pennsylvania State Senate Judiciary Committee a message today, and urge them to not waste the resources and time of Pennsylvania voters by debating a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

Please Vote No on Senate Bill 707

Dear Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee

The Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee is preparing for a vote on Senate Bill 707, a bill that would support writing a ban on same-sex marriage into Pennsylvania's Constitution. Pennsylvania has lots of issues to deal with right now, but writing a ban on gay marriage into the state constitution should not be one of them.

In years past, the State Senate has been helpful in curbing debate about a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. But simply put, the message should be clear here: Senate Bill 707 is unnecessary, and deserves to be voted down.

Pennsylvania does not need to be in the business of dipping their heads into bedrooms and defining relationships. This measure is a distraction to the real issues facing Pennsylvania, not to mention an affront to the Keystone state's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population. It should be voted down, and I urge you to do so.
