It’s time for the U.S. to take a clear stand and officially recognize the Libyan National Transitional Council as the only legitimate representative of the Libyan people.  This will provide the Libyan pro-democracy movement with much-needed moral support, help further isolate Gadaffi’s regime and establish a clear path for negotiating effective strategies to end the slaughter without overstepping the will of the Libyan people.

Secretary of State Clinton is traveling to the region to meet with and vet some of the leaders of the Libyan National Transitional Council over the next few days. She has said:

We know there are people we want to be associated with; we know there are people we don’t want to be associated with...

The Libyan people have been unwavering and continue to lay down their lives for one objective – to free themselves of Gadaffi's tyranny.

To that end, many Libyans have aligned themselves with the National Transitional Council, as has the Arab League and France. It’s time the U.S. did the same.  Please sign the petition urging President Obama to officially recognize the National Transitional Council. Libyans are dying for it.
