Tell NJ Lawmakers to Restore Family Planning Funding

Tell NJ Lawmakers to Restore Family Planning Funding

The Issue

This week, efforts to restore $7.5 million in funding to New Jersey family planning funding were dealt a severe blow when key Republicans flip-flopped on the issue, refusing to override the Governor's veto. Without the funding, 58 clinics statewide will be hit hard. Some will be forced to close their doors. Others will be open for limited hours only. Tens of thousands of New Jersey residents will no longer have access to family planning clinics at all.

Republicans claim they oppose the measure for budget reasons, but studies show that that it is so much more costly to pay for unintended pregnancies versus providing family planning services. Refusing to restore the funds makes sense neither from a moral nor a fiscal perspective.

Tell NJ lawmakers that they must ensure the reproductive health of their citizens and the fiscal health of their state by voting to restore the funding to family planning services.
