I'm in 8th grade just like Jared Marcum, and when I read on Facebook that he was being punished for wearing an NRA shirt to school, I felt this was an injustice.

Our freedom of speech guarantees the right to politely disagree, but Logan Middle School and the town are acting like bullies. I know how it feels, and I'm here to stand up for Jared. I hope you will, too.

If you have not heard, Logan Middle School and the area police force have brought charges up against Jared Marcum for wearing a NRA t-shirt to school. This is in clear violation of the first amendment. I looked up some information and read about the public school free speech "Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District" Supreme Court case. This seems like another free speech case.

Jared served a one day suspension and I read that "prosecutors are reviewing the case to decide whether to proceed" with criminal charges.

That's crazy. Drop the charges. Apologize. Jared's record should not reflect this since he did nothing wrong!
