Trying to be "cute" J.C. Penney continues to promote merchandise that encourages girls to value looks over smarts and leave brains to the boys.

A shirt for sale for girls ages 7-16 reads: "My best subjects: shopping, boys, music, dancing." The caption next to it reads: "These are the subjects I TOTALLY ROCK at!"

In a world where women and girls are continually fed sexist messages about the importance of their looks and women continue to fight for equality and respect, J.C. Penny is happy to stick with the status quo. This shirt tells girls that academics are not as important as, say, shopping or boys.

Ask J.C. Penney to stop selling their sexist T-shirts to impressionable young girls.
