Tell Indiana to Regulate Factory Farm Manure No Matter Where it Comes From
The Issue
Right now, if a factory farm takes its liquid fecal waste across state lines into Indiana, it is not subject to state regulations on holding and spreading manure. State Representative Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) has introduced House Bill 1134 that would change that. Under the bill no matter where manure comes from, it would be subject to regulations. Things like covering manure if it is held somewhere for more than 72 hours and making sure there is an adequate distance from public roads and houses when manure is spread.
Write to the Indiana State Legislature and urge them to support House Bill 1134.
