Gerard's Restaurant in Hawaii continues to sell foie gras, despite claiming that it is committed to supporting the local economy through the Hawaiian regional cuisine movement. 

Foie gras isn't produced locally in Hawaii, and many Hawaiians don't want to see it eaten at all. Foie gras production methods are well-known to be cruel, made by force-feeding ducks and geese several times a day using a metal feeding tube. 

Last year, a bill to ban the sale of foie gras was proposed in the state of Hawaii. The bill received a great amount of support, but unfortunately died in committee. The bill has been re-proposed this year, by Hawaiian Rep. Angus McKelvey and Sens. Mike Gabbard, Chun Oakland and Clayton Hee. 

Foie gras may be illegal in the state of Hawaii soon, but Gerard should consider pulling the two foie gras dishes on the menu before then. If Gerard is fully committed to his claims about local cuisine, the restaurant will find an alternative dish. 

Gerard's Restaurant should know that foie gras is not Hawaiian, nor is it humane. Sign the petition asking Gerard's Restaurant to stop serving foie gras.
